Message from the Executive Director
The United Arab Emirates and the United States share a rich history of cooperation and partnership. These two nations have been, and continue to be, reliable allies, whose relationship is based on mutual interests. That relationship was born decades ago, as our nations shared the goal of creating a peaceful and stable Middle East. From those roots, the relationship has grown, to where it now extends into the economic and cross-cultural sectors and produces positive global impacts well beyond the Arabian Gulf Region.
To further the cultural ties between the UAE and the United States, the Oasis Foundation of Washington DC will seek out and support charitable activities within the United States which promote mutual understanding between the people of our two nations. Under the guidance of our founder, Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba, who himself is led by the charitable example set by the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, we will seek new opportunities to find common ground and mutual respect.
In fulfilling our purposes, we will pursue charitable activities in the United States in five key areas of endeavor:
The UAE is committed to cross-cultural investment. This has been evidenced through its partnerships with Western educational and cultural institutions like Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, NYU, the Louvre, and the Guggenheim. But it has been further evidenced by its philanthropic work within the United States, where through various charitable works, the UAE has helped many communities address their needs. The Oasis Foundation is not the genesis of this manner of cooperation between the UAE and United States, but will serve as a continuation and extension.
We are thankful for the opportunity to serve and thankful to Ambassador Al Otaiba for his leadership in this endeavor. We look forward to a successful journey.
